Adding & Editing Barcodes In Your Design

Whether you're designing product labels or organizing your supply chain, adding barcodes shouldn't be difficult. Use the following steps to create single or multiple barcodes using our free barcode generator tool within Maestro Label Designer.

Creating A Single Barcode

Hover over "Tools" in the blue navigation bar and select "Barcode Generator."

Ensure "Single Barcode" is selected and hit "Continue."

Select your preferred barcode, enter the data, and click "Generate" to place it on your canvas.

Editing A Single Barcode

Click on your barcode to select it.
To edit the barcode type, data, or appearance, click "Edit Barcode" in the bottom right-hand corner.

To edit the barcode's opacity (change how see-through it is), use the "Object Properties" panel to the left of the screen.

Creating Multiple Barcodes

Hover over "Tools" in the blue navigation bar and select "Barcode Generator."

Click "Multiple Barcodes," then "Continue." This will initiate the mail merge process.

Click "Start Mail Merge."

You will be prompted to add a new datalist or use an existing list.
Note: If any of the uploaded data is not in the correct format, the barcode generator will display an error message.

To add a document with your codes, click "Add a new mail merge list" and then "Next Step." Select the file you would like to upload and click "Open." Note: If you don't have an existing list, learn how to make one.
To select an existing document in Maestro Label Designer, click "Use a previously uploaded list" and then "Next Step."

Highlight the field from your dataset you would like to include and select the type of barcode. You can also change the display settings from this screen. Click "Add To Design" to add your barcodes to your canvas.

Working With Multiple Barcodes

Click on your placeholder barcode to select it.
To edit the type of barcode, which information from your data list is being used, or the appearance of your barcodes, click "Edit Field" in the bottom right-hand corner.

To replace your barcode data list with a new list, hover over "Mail Merge Options" in the top gray bar and select "Switch Lists."
Note: This will effectively remove all of the barcodes on your label.
To delete your dataset and turn off mail merge, hover over "Mail Merge Options" in the top gray bar and select "Disable Mail Merge."
To edit the barcode's opacity (change how see-through it is), use the "Object Properties" panel to the left of the screen. Note: Any changes will be applied to the entire dataset, you cannot change the settings of an individual barcode.

Previewing Your Data

Your barcode content may be longer or shorter than the placeholder barcode shows. To ensure your design and barcodes print properly, follow the steps below.

In the top gray bar, click "Preview." The placeholder barcode will be replaced with your actual barcodes. Click the white arrows to view each label.
