Whether you are selling on eBay®, Amazon® or even run your own site, shipping and packaging should be considered an important part of your business operation. You take the time to sell your products, why not take a little more to make sure you create a great first impression? The boxes, envelopes, package insulation and, of course, labels are all easy ways to do so. Below are a few tips for shipping, including some commonly used labels that are sure to add a professional touch to your packaging.

Choosing your packaging materials...

Once you have everything ready for shipment, you can use the tips below to ensure your package will look professional and stay secure.

1. What kind of box should you use?

Use a box that is strong enough to protect what’s inside while big enough to leave space for adding cushioning. New boxes made of heavy corrugated cardboard are suggested. If you happen to reuse older boxes, make sure they are void of old shipping labels and that the box is in good shape.

2. Protect your shipment.

There are a few options for adding cushioning: bubble wrap, packing peanuts, corrugated wrap or even old newspaper. You can never have too much cushioning. After you have added your materials make sure to gently shake to see if the shipment is secured. If nothing moves you are ready to seal it!

3. Secure the shipment with strong tape.

You want to use a durable tape. Some popular tapes include: clear carton sealing tape, gummed kraft tape and duct tape. To avoid minor shipping mishaps, we suggest using a tape durable enough to secure your packages.

4. Selecting the right label...

As we mentioned before, using the right label for the job can make a lasting impression. Utilizing different materials is a great way to make your shipping and mailing labels stand out. For example, you can use a silver foil material for holiday mailers.
